Tinder has released a number of security and privacy features that will allow users to have more control over who they interact with in the app. The company, specifically, has launched an incognito mode to be able to hide the profile and, in turn, be able to continue seeing the rest of the accounts, as well as new options to block or report those who misbehave on the platform.
He new incognito mode, available only to Premium users, is an additional feature to the possibility of hiding your profile from other users in order to prevent your account from appearing in searches. With the new option, it will be possible to hide the profile publicly, and it will be shown only to those people you have given ‘Like’.
“You’ve always been able to hide your profile on Tinder, but we wanted to create a feature that allows people to hide their profile, but still be able to see everyone else and only show it to people they like.”
Rory Kozoll, Tinder’s VP of Product and Integrity, says TechCrunch.
The app, therefore, now has three display options.
- Show me on Tinder: your card will appear in searches.
- Don’t show me on Tinder: your card will not appear in searches and your profile will only be visible to your matches.
- Incognito (available for Tinder Plus users): You will only be able to see the people you have given like.
Tinder now allows you to block profiles
Tinder has also implemented a feature designed to prevent co-workers, your boss, or someone you know from knowing that you have an account on the app. Now, anyone —whether they have Tinder Premium or not—, can block a profile through a new option that will appear on the user’s cards. A blocked person will not be able to see your profile in the recommendations or in any other section of the app.
Finally, users will also receive a new warning notice when they try to send a message considered harmful or in bad taste. If a recipient receives such a message, they will also see an option to report to the company.
