As TikTok dominates the game, Trump’s network grows
The social network of former President Donald Trump returned to the top of the App Store after the purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk was revealed. This caused shares in Digital World Acquisition to jump 24% after thousands more users gained access to the full functionality of Truth Social, while downloads increased almost tenfold.
For his part, Trump does not want to return to Twitter, even if Musk reactivates his account. Speaking to the Fox television network, the former president said that he prefers to use his own social network, Truth, as the only channel and that he will join it as planned: “I’m not going to go to Twitter, I’m going to stay on Truth,” said.
Truth was launched in February of this year, however it has had problems operating.
Global consumer spending on in-app purchases was almost flat year-on-year in the first quarter of the year, reaching $32.5 billion, up 0.6% from $32.3 billion a year ago.
Revenue generated by Apple’s marketplace was more than double that of Google Play, growing 5.8% year over year to $21.8 billion. Google Play saw approximately $10.7 billion in consumer spending, down 8.5% from revenue in the same period in 2021.
