Although the heat waves have given us a bit of a break in recent days, summer is still a time of high temperatures. For this reason, being properly dressed is essential to staying cool and comfortable at all times. The closed nature of footwear makes it one of the most difficult garments to choose… At least until the arrival of these curious insoles that work like an air conditioner for your feet.
Climfeet is the name of these insoles designed to refresh your feet. By installing them inside your shoes, you can experience an improvement of up to 4 degrees Celsius. The most impressive thing is that they do not need an external power source, and thanks to their curious design they work like an air conditioner without electricity.
We have already seen examples of passive cooling focused on the design and materials of the products, such as that air conditioning for your home that does not require electricity. Well, Bruno Aubert, founder of SoleCooler, the company that created these templates, also had a similar idea in mind. Five years later, He has already managed to put them on sale since his official Web and in other servicesand they only cost 79 euros.
How Climfeet insoles work, the air conditioning for your feet that does not need batteries
Refreshing your feet was not the main idea of these insoles. According to Aubert, they were intended to help people with anemia or diabetes. These diseases tend to cool various parts of the body of those who suffer from them, with the feet being one of the most affected areas. Although there are already other insoles and socks to help these people regulate their temperature, require an external power source, such as batteries.
For this reason, the SoleCooler team got down to work. Using the Carnot cycle, a principle that air conditioners also use, created the Climfeet. Thus, thanks to their knowledge in thermodynamics, they have created these insoles capable of using the movement of the foot as a motorwhile the air that enters and leaves the shoe would be the fluid.
In this way, instead of a heavy air conditioning compressor, these insoles use the pressure of the foot to replace it. This is how SoleCooler manages to activate the 260 heat pumps that are distributed over the surface of the Climfeet on two faces.
Depending on how you wear the Climfeet insoles, these could do the effect of air conditioning or heating for your shoes. The cooling side comes in blue, while the heating side is red or brown. For its part, the first is made up of hermetic low-compression cells that work by releasing heat. The latter, for its part, absorbs it, cooling the inside of the shoe. These differences in compression and the connection between the two sections allow cooling or heating up to 4 degrees with just seven steps.
