Where do I find the CVV?
The CVV (Verification Value Code) is a three or four-digit security code that you find near the box where the cardholder’s signature goes. On newer plastics, the CVV appears on the back of the card, next to the expiration date.
You will use the CVV when you make purchases online or when you make payments with a card not present. To avoid fraud, some banks give you the option of generating a dynamic CVV in the bank’s app, that is, a code that will change with each purchase you make.
The CVV is the security “key” so you should not share it with anyone. Criminals usually ask for this number in phone calls, mail or messages.
What is the BIN?
The BIN (Bank Identification Number) is made up of six numbers that identify the issuing bank. With these numbers you can also know if the card is debit or credit.
Each card issuer has a set number to recognize what type of card it is. For example, cards issued by Visa start with 4, MasterCard with 5, and America Express start with 3.
The following numbers indicate the issuing bank, the type of card (credit or debit), the status of the card (gold, platinum, classic, etc).
