Since last year there have been strong rumors about Project Spartacus a new service playstation that would combine PS Plus and PS Nowbesides that it would also offer certain classic games of PS3, PS2, and PS1. Well, now new information has emerged that has revealed several important details about this hypothetical service, and it seems that it will not be as big as we thought.
In accordance with Jeff Grubbjournalist from venturebeathas managed to gather new details about this new service, which coincide with a report initially shared by Jason Schrier, from Bloomberg. Apparently, there will be three categories: Essential ($10 per month), Extra ($13 per month), and Premium ($16 per month).
Grubb suggests that Premium will be similar to EA Playwith demos, “classic games”, and functionality of streaming. It is not yet clear what kind of demos could be offered or which are these classic games to which Grubb is concerned, but it is easy to assume that we will see a catalog made up of games from all past consoles PlayStation.
You will also have access to a catalog of downloadable titles, which will be included in the category of Extra without cost. According Grubb, “it will be around 250 or 300 games”. the category of Extra will not have functionality streamingonly the Premium.
On the other hand, the plan Essential is basically the same as PSPlus offers up to date, without any change. It doesn’t mention if there will be annual subscriptions for any of these categories, and it doesn’t mention if the games first-party from Sony could arrive day one at this service, just as it does Xbox GamePass.
Finally, Grubb mentions that this service could be launched in a very short time, and considering that an important event of PlayStation would take place in March, there is a possibility that Pproject spartacus will finally be revealed during said presentation.
Publisher’s note: Frankly, this new service doesn’t sound so good. I wasn’t expecting something like Game Pass either, since Sony doesn’t consider it viable, but I did think it would be a little better. I mean, this is still a rumor but it definitely sounds like something believable.
