Currently, cell phone recharges usually have a validity depending on the amount you pay at the different recharge points, and some users have the problem of not using all their data until they have expired. For this very reason, a new initiative has emerged in Mexicowhich would seek to remove said time limit.
The deputy of Green Party, Maria del RocĂo Corona, has commented that the purpose after eliminating this type of practice is to take away from companies that power to freeze the data, which become valid again after the end of the term. This includes large companies such as At&t, Telcel, Movistar, Unefonamong others that preserve these customs.
This is what he commented:
The sale of recharges is a round business where everyone wins, except consumers. The balance that users acquire with their money, and in exercising their right of access to communication, should not be subject to any validity or that its enjoyment be conditioned to a new top-up in order to continue making and receiving calls.
It is worth noting that year after year the validity of the balance days has dropped considerably. Taking, for example, a recharge of $20 pesos, which in 2016 lasted six days and in 2021 only two days, which means a drop of 67%, while that of 150 pesos in 2016 lasted 29 days and in 2021 28 days, which represents a decrease of 3%.
It is worth commenting that the elimination of these rate plans could be detrimental in some way, given that some telephone companies offer unlimited amounts of certain social networks. And if everything were removed, it should be limited to data, which can be finished in a matter of seconds due to constant use by users.
