There are now more Oxxo stores in Mexico than there are Starbucks coffee shops in the United States.
Oxxo has achieved an effective positioning in the mind of the consumer, in part due to its high number of branches.
It is of vital importance to continue offering quality products and services to remain present in the mind of the consumer.
A consumer has been surprised after witnessing the “Oxxoverso”, showing users what an Oxxo looks like… right in front of another.
The presence of small retail stores It has proven to be highly accepted by consumers around the world, who can access these spaces to buy some essential items of their daily lives (perhaps some not so), mainly in terms of food and beverages.
Among them, there are some brands that have managed to stand out above the rest, in part thanks to their marketing and market research strategies to strategically place their branches and thus ensure their level of sales.
We find an example of this with 7-Eleven, who have more than 153 thousand stores around the world (according to Statista); however, a Mexican brand has managed to position itself as indispensable in the national market, Oxxo, which has more branches in Mexico than Starbucks in the United States.
According to information on its website, there are currently more than 17,400 Oxxo stores in Mexico, 79 in Chile and 80 in Colombia, so its presence has managed to surprise Mexicans on more than one occasion since, sometimes, these tend to be quite close to each other, perhaps too much, as was that Oxxo that was built on another.
A content creator on TikTok has shown his particular experience with the Oxxo brand, as he was walking the streets to buy a product at the branch; however, he thanked the company “genuinely”, since they had opened another branch opposite him where they did have the product he was looking for.

before this Oxxo in front of another OxxoInternet users have made comments such as “they prefer to open another Oxxo to open the second box”, “I live there, in the other Oxxo they are going to put a terrace to go have coffee there”, “and so on until the multiverse takes over of us and let us be the ones who attend the Oxxo without opening the second box”, among other thoughts on the matter that manage to emphasize the presence that these stores have achieved in the national territory.
When a brand chooses to expand its number of branches, the demographic aspects of its environment must be taken into account to ensure that its respective market contemplates it to make its future purchases; but not only is it enough to place more and more stores to achieve predominance of consumer preference, but the Companies must ensure that they continue to offer the right (and consistent) products, services, and value propositions so that customers continue to choose their brand over the competition.
An example of this type of company that has demonstrated its effective positioning beyond its number of branches is with Costco, when a user exhibited the positioning of the brand after mentioning to her friend “for me you are Costco level (you do everything well) ”, emphasizing the quality of the products sold in its branches, since as such the brand does not have so many distributed stores.
The positioning of a brand does not translate only in terms of branch level is concernedbut to the presence in the mind of the consumer.
