After multiple leaks that have been making noise since the previous year, Warner Bros. Discovery finally made it official that HBO Max changes name to Max starting next May 23 in the United States. In Spain, however, it will take until 2024, while Latin America still does not have a specific date.
The company, in a move that will surely cause many questions, decided to dispense with the name of a brand —HBO— that we usually associate with high-quality content. However, they are fully confident that their renewed service will continue to dominate in this regard.
Max does not simply imply a name change, but a much more ambitious strategy than the previous platform. This new version, in addition to maintaining the series, movies and documentaries that were already present on HBO Max, will add all the contents of Discovery+, which is also owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. The idea of the media conglomerate is to offer its huge catalog in one place and under the same vision.
One of HBO Max’s negative points, at least when compared to its main rivals, is that its catalog was inferior in terms of the amount of content it refers to. However, thanks to the merger with Discovery+, its library grows significantly.
Max offers three different plans
The above could make you think that, due to the considerable increase in content, the price will also rise. However, for the moment the standard plan Max will stay the same $16 per month or $150 a year. Additionally, two other plans will be offered.
The first of them, with advertisementswill be available for $10 per month or $100 per year. For its part, the highest level will cost $20 per month or $200 per year. How will it differ from the standard? Will have video playback in resolution 4K and Dolby Atmos sound. In addition, it can be viewed on up to 4 simultaneous devices and you can download up to 100 contents to enjoy them when you do not have an internet connection. The complete offer is as follows
- Plan with ads: $10 dollars per month. 2 simultaneous devices and HD playback.
- Standard plan: $16 dollars per month. 2 simultaneous devices, HD playback and up to 30 downloads.
- Ultimate plan: $20 dollars per month. 4 simultaneous devices, 4K playback, Dolby Atmos sound and up to 100 downloads.
It should be noted that this information is exclusive to the United States, so we will have to be patient to learn about the pricing scheme in other countries.
