Engine and equipment
Hyundai will now import the model from a plant in Indonesia, rather than from India, which, among other things, will involve the removal of the 1.4-litre turbo enginewhich was offered in the most equipped version of the model.
For now, all three versions of the Creta, which will hit 68 dealerships as the 2024 model year, will be equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine. However, Claudia Torres, Hyundai product manager in Mexico, said that the possibility of including a turbo version in this new model has been put on the table.
Among the aesthetic changes of the model are a new design of the front grill, aligned to that of Tucson, a renewed positioning of the main headlights, as well as a redesign of the skid plate or lower plate. At the rear, the placement of the brake light inside the rear spoiler and the renewed design of the tailgate with character lines stand out.
As for the interior equipment, Torres highlighted a fully digital 10.25-inch cluster available in the GLS Premium and Limited versions and the Hyundai Smart Sense set of driving assists -such as frontal collision avoidance, lane keeping and cross traffic assistant-, available in the Limited version, which is the top of the range.
The new configuration also includes two screen size options, one of 8 available in the entry version and another of 10.25 inches for the more equipped versions. Both have Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a cooled glove box (a common feature in Indonesia due to high temperatures), a wireless charger for smartphones, and a smart key with push button start.
Versions and prices
The incorporation of the additional equipment that each version offers, with respect to the previous model year, including the electronic parking brake, the intelligent key with ignition button and the electrically folding exterior mirrors, implied a marginal increase, of between 4%, in the version prices. This increase is below the sector’s inflation, which in the last year was 6.3%.
The GLS IVT version now starts at 417,900 pesos, the intermediate GLS Premium version at 476,900 pesos, and the most equipped, called Limited, starts at 516,900 pesos.
After this update, Hyundai plans to sell 1,500 Creta units per month, and climb positions within the segment, currently dominated by Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks.
