Mercadona already had precooked potato tortillas in its regular catalogue, a very helpful convenience product for thousands of people when we need to resort to easy dishes that get us out of trouble. What is now presented as a novelty is a more attractive option, new ‘Ready to eat’ tortillas, theoretically less processed and more, shall we say, “authentic”. They are also masks.
It makes sense, since from the aforementioned section we expect dishes cooked at the moment or on the day in the kitchens installed in the Mercadona stores that have this service. However, there are dishes that arrive half-finished or already made to each center, starting from different providers. This is the case of the range of tortillas, manufactured by Elaborados Naturales de La Ribera, in Funes (Navarra). It is the same company that makes refrigerated Hacendado tortillas.
Tortillas with zucchini and tortillas with onion
Until now we could find in the pre-cooked refrigerated section three tortillas packaged in a similar way to the typical ultra-processed pizzas: classic potato tortilla, potato with onion and potato with chorizo, all 600 g. Now we can take two more varieties and in different formatsto eat in the store itself -if it has a designated area- or take it to work, the park or home.
We are sorry for the sincebollistasboth flavors carry fried onion among its ingredients. In addition to the classic potato tortilla with onion, we have the tortilla with zucchini; the two flavors are presented in three formats: full 1.3 kg (8 euros), half omelette of about 650 g (4.50 euros) and skewer of about 215 g (2 euros).
Among its ingredients there are not too many surprises for products of this type:
Potato omelette with onion. Potato (57%), pasteurized egg (28%) (egg, salt, preservative E211, citric acid acidulant), fried onion (11%) (onion and sunflower oil), sunflower oil and virgin olive oil.
Potato omelette with zucchini. Potato (43%), pasteurized egg (28%) (egg, salt, E211 preservative, citric acid acidulant), fried onion (11%) (onion and sunflower oil), sunflower oil and virgin olive oil.
It should be mentioned that the potato omelette with refrigerated onion, which costs 2.60 euros for 600 g, has the same ingredients but with 58% potato, 31% egg and 6% fried onion. we assume Due to this proportion of products, the new version must be tastier and more satisfying.
