Without a doubt, the shell is one of the most popular sweet breads among Mexicans. There are several varieties: those filled with cream, those with chocolate, those with vanilla, etc. But, have you imagined using them as sneakers? Now it is possible, since Adidas launched a new tennis model that resembles vanilla shells and chocolatewhich has already been baptized by the Mexicans as ‘Conchadidas’.
According to the German company, this special collection seeks to pay homage to ‘conchas’, the typical sweet bread that is part of the daily diet of millions of Mexicans.
How are the ‘Conchadidas’ of Adidas?
Although they are actually called Superstar, in Mexico this peculiar footwear is already known as ‘shell’ tennis shoes. It is a classic Adidas model with some very striking changes, but without losing its essence: rounded toe with rubber relief that imitates the silhouette of a sea shell. The iconic three stripes on the sides also stand out, the brand’s hallmark, this time in metallic tones.
With that same base model, Adidas decided to reinterpret the shell in the Mexican style. He joined the traditional stripes with other smaller ones and put velvet on the tennis lining. This resulted in tennis shoes shaped like traditional bread.
To represent the variety of these Mexican rolls, the sports firm presented the models in pink, white and brown colors, alluding to the flavors of the shells: strawberry, vanilla and chocolate.
This edition of Superstar will be limited, so if you want to get a pair of these sneakers we recommend doing so as soon as possible.
The launch has been very discreet, but the ‘Conchadidas’ can now be purchased on the website and the Adidas App for $2,399 Mexican pesos.
It should be noted that this is an official launch, not a collaboration with a bakery or any intervention. Therefore, ‘shell’ shaped sneakers are of great value to collectors.
