Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world joins KIO as its new Chief Sprint Officer. This initiative is part of the One Step Forward campaign, with which the Mexican technology company reinforces its commitment to continue one step forward, accompanying organizations of all types and sizes in their digital acceleration, to meet their business objectives.
Since 2002, KIO has provided top-level infrastructure and technology solutions that strengthen organizations in six countries where it is present. Jorge Sapién, CEO of KIO explained that in the company he runs he was looking for someone who shared the values of passion for speed, commitment and dedication to excellence, something they found in Bolt.
Bolt and his passion for the business world
Usain Bolt, also known as Lightning Bolt, is the fastest human in the world. He holds eleven world titles and eight Olympic medals as a sprinter. He also holds the record for the 100 and 200 meter dash (9.58 and 19.19 seconds respectively) and the 4 × 100 relay race with the Jamaican team (36.84 seconds).
His sporting and business career has forged in him a unique mindset: the value of speed combined with a strategic perspective, which he shared with KIO clients and the press at his official presentation this Tuesday afternoon.
Bolt declares himself a fan of technology and innovation. “I have always been interested in exploring new ways to push the boundaries of what is possible. KIO approached me about becoming their CEO Spirit Officer and I was sure to learn more about what they were doing in the world of technology.”
Technology is currently revolutionizing all sports in every way; from footwear to performance on the field. “Technology improves training efficiency, safety and performance in sports and will continue to do so in the near future,” the athlete said.
in a team is better
“We are very happy that Usain Bolt is part of the KIO family, he is an athlete like no other and just like him, we know that we always have to be one step ahead. Having the best in the team means always giving good results”, said Sapién.
In this regard, the sprinter indicated that teamwork is very important and a fundamental part of his success. “When I compete as an individual, it’s fun, but when I compete as a team it’s much more fun, exciting and decisive. Witnessing how KIO works as a team, their culture, values, diversity and ideas is wonderful. It is the reason I am involved with this company.”
Determination and consistency to overcome challenges
Speed is not just about running fast, but about making informed and accurate decisions at the right time. KIO has 2,000 clients to whom it provides infrastructure services in Mission Critical Data Centers and Information Technology (IT). “We do all this work and try to achieve consistency and really high standards,” said the CEO of KIO.
On this Usain Bolt stressed that consistency is everything. In addition, he considered that it is good to have competitors and that they push you to be better.
He also said that it is essential to always be prepared since this helps to be constant.
Success according to Usain Bolt
In every decision there is a crucial moment in which vision and determination are needed to overcome any challenge. What do you consider Usain Bolt to be his greatest achievement in the world of athletics? The sprinter was blunt in declaring that his greatest achievement was winning an Olympic medal. However, he clarified about his goals:
For me the goal was never to be the fastest in the world, which I am; When I was a kid my main goal was just to win one Olympic medal and that was my goal, to win eight is wonderful.

How to handle moments of pressure? “Preparation is key. When I’m prepared I know I’m going to win,” she says. “I was always on my best game and always prepared and ready to go,” he recalled of how he would present himself to competition.
Today, once he has retired from the slopes, the athlete is motivated by his family, “they are my main focus and what keeps him busy.” Her biggest inspiration from him? His father, who always taught him hard work and demonstrated it by example.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to excel in business or in any field? “I have always told people to do what you love. When you do what you love it’s not work, you enjoy waking up in the morning, working hard and trying to help make people’s lives better.”
And he concluded, “that’s what KIO is about, simply improving people’s lives. So, for me it is determined: I believe in KIO and they believe in me. Everything is possible, don’t set limits”.
