Rumors of Xiaomi’s next high-end, the Xiaomi 12, no longer the Mi surname, are beginning to sound. It was leaked a month ago that its arrival is expected in December, possibly by the hand of Snapdragon 895 under the arm, although little else is known about it. Now Weibo’s popular Digital Chat Station leaker gives us more details of your cameras.
According to this information, Xiaomi would hit the brakes on megapixels (the Xiaomi Mi 11 has a 108 megapixel main sensor), since the Xiaomi 12 would have a one triple camera with 50 megapixels on its three sensors.
50 is the magic number
We still have a couple of months to meet the Xiaomi 12, but the trickle of rumors has already officially begun. One of the first details of the terminal told us about its power, which to no one’s surprise would incorporate the most powerful processor at the time of its launch. According to these rumors, the Xiaomi 12 would mount the successor to the Snapdragon 888 alongside Qualcomm’s latest modem, the Snapdragon X65.
This processor has the tentative name of Snapdragon 895, in theory manufactured by Samsung and with 4 nanometer lithograph. Other than that, not much had leaked so far from Xiaomi’s next high-end which will undoubtedly come accompanied by additional versions such as Pro, Ultra and Lite. That’s where Digital Chat Station comes in.
This leaker has commented that Xiaomi is testing a triple camera where all its sensors are 50 megapixels. That is, 50 megapixel main sensor, 50 megapixel wide angle and a 50 megapixel telephoto sensor. It is less resolution for the main sensor than with respect to the previous generation, although there are more megapixels in total if we put the three lenses together (the Xiaomi Mi 11 has 108 + 12 + 5 MP lenses).
This would be a readjustment of the practice of “the more the better” that could have interesting repercussions on the photography capabilities of Xiaomi’s next high-end range, although it must be emphasized that the leaker assures that Xiaomi you are testing this configuration. As proof, there is always the possibility that the final result is different from here to the official launch.
Little else is known about the Xiaomi 12, apart from its possible presentation date in December and the rumor that it would include a screen with LPTO panel and frequency of variable refresh rate up to 120 Hz. For the rest of the details, we will have to wait, at least, until the next leak.
