EFE.- British Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed this morning that all electrical power in the UK will be generated from renewable sources by 2035.
Speaking to the press in Manchester (north of England), where he participates in the annual congress of the Conservative Party, the prime minister assured that this change to renewable energy will better protect consumers from fluctuations in import prices.
“We can do with all our energy production by 2035 what we are already doing with internal combustion engines by 2030,” he stressed.

For that year, Johnson recalled, “you will no longer be able to buy a car with internal combustion generated by hydrocarbons and we are heading towards an energy of one type or another ”.
These advances will also allow his country to be “at the forefront of this amazing clean vehicle industry.”
The prime minister wants the United Kingdom to lead the announcements of environmental commitments, on the occasion of its participation as host of the next COP26 climate summit, which will be organized in the Scottish city of Glasgow in less than a month.

“If we look at the progress we are making in wind energy, where we lead in production offshore, if we look at what we can do with other renewable energies, in carbon capture and potential storage with hydrogen, We believe that we can achieve full clean energy production by 2035, “he added.
Johnson also highlighted the benefits for citizens’ pockets of turning to renewables instead of having to import fossil fuels from other countries.
“The advantage is that for the first time the United Kingdom will not depend on hydrocarbons from abroad with their capricious prices, with the risk that this implies for the pockets and for the consumer,” he added.
