The Senate has appointed a new commissioner to be part of the oil regulator. The legislature elected Salvador Ortuño Arzate as a new member of the National Hydrocarbons Commission with 67 votes in favor.
Ortuño competed in the shortlist with Marco Vázquez García and Elizabeth Mar Juárez. The new commissioner protested this afternoon and will remain in office until December 2029.
The new member of the CNH has been a researcher at the Mexican Petroleum Institute for more than 25 years.
