In his morning conference this Wednesday, President López Obrador affirmed that Ancira, known as “El Rey del Acero”, has a considerable debt both with the government, the Tax Administration Service, Pemex, Infonavit, the Federal Electricity Commission and including the Mexican Social Security Institute.
Much will depend on the attitude of Mr. Ancira. I I call you to reconsider, that makes things easier and that thinks of the workers, that helps. If it is decided by litigation, the plant will be lost and thousands of jobs will be affected,” argued the president.
However, the steel company’s statement specifies that Ancira is no longer formally part of the company since the last shareholders’ meeting, where the share transfer agreement was reported and a new board of directors was appointed.
“The legal procedures for the transfer of control have been completed and Ancira only has one nominal task left, which is to convene the assembly in which the transfer will be formalized with the entry of the new managers,” the steel company added.
At the same time, the company emphasized that it has exhausted all possibilities of obtaining resources to pay the salaries of employees and workers, and even to maintain the minimum temperature in essential equipment using liquefied gas. Therefore, it is “urgent” to proceed with the capitalization and resolve the crisis in the company located in Monclova, Coahuila.
