The president said that, after “recovering” the concession of the section Coatzacoalcos-Medias Aguas operated by Ferrosur, it will be possible to transport cargo and passengers from Coatzacoalcos to Puerto Progreso.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the “recovery” of the concession for the Coatzacoalcos-Medias Aguas section, operated by Ferrosur, will allow cargo and passengers to be transported from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, to Puerto Progreso, Yucatán.
The Mexican government published a Decree on May 19 in which it declared “of public utility” the conservation, provision and improvements of the public rail transport service in the sections of lines Z, ZA and FA, which go from Medias Aguas to Coatzacoalcos, from Hibueras to Minatitlán and from El Chapo to Coatzacoalcos, respectively. These stretches were originally granted to Ferrosur, SA de CV, a subsidiary of Grupo México, through a concession title published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on December 14, 1998.
“This concession has been recovered, the railway section that was recovered was in disuse,” López Obrador said during his morning conference. “Thanks to this, there is now the possibility of transporting passengers and cargo from Coatzacoalcos (Veracruz) to Puerto Progreso (Yucatán),” added the president.
