After months of only receiving updates focused on system stability, today, July 28, 2022, the PS5 It has finally improved its firmware in a substantial way by offering some of the options that fans have been asking for for a long time. Nevertheless, not everyone will have access to these news, at least not for the moment.
Through a new statement, PlayStation has revealed that a new beta update has arrived on PS5 for select users in the United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany and France. Nevertheless, the company expects these improvements to be available to everyone at some point this year.
The biggest novelty offered by this update, is support for HDMI 1440p. This allows gamers to choose additional visual settings on compatible PC monitors and TVs. However, it is important to mention that support for VRR is not available with this option. If a game has a higher native resolution, such as 4K, you can benefit from improved anti-aliasing through supersampling at up to 1440p output.
On the other hand, game lists have been added, that is, now you can create groups that make it even easier to organize your titles. You can have up to 15 lists and 100 games in each one.
Alongside this, a number of minor updates to certain aspects of the console are also offered. Now you can hear and compare the difference between stereo and 3D audio on the same screen, and then choose your preferred settings.
When resuming a game, activities in progress are often displayed prominently at the top of the center of the game to make it as easy and quick as possible to get back to where you left off.
Now you can ask group members to start Screen Sharing to see your game.
When you join a party and a party member is playing a game that you can join, now you will get a notification. You can join the game directly from the notification.
When you accept a friend request in the list, you can now see your new friend’s profile in the Accepted Requests section. On the Game Base card, you can now send stickers and voice messages to your groups.
Remember, this update is now available for selected users in the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany, and France, but the rest of the world will have access to these enhancements at a later date. In related topics, this is how you can access the secret browser of the PS5. Similarly, it seems that the release date of the new PS5 has been leaked.
Editor’s Note:
This is a great update. Although the support for 1440p is very interesting, what strikes me the most is the ability to create game lists, something that will make organizing games much easier.
