In the case of fiber optic service, the cost of connectivity for CDMX is 79.16 per month (1,646 pesos), on average. It is the eighth most expensive city in this area, only surpassed by Kansas, Chattanooga (Tennessee, USA), Lafayette (Los Angeles, USA), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Fort Collins (Colorado, USA), Atlanta (Georgia, USA) and Hong Kong.
In the relation cost per speed of the internet, the CDMX lags behind
In the comparison made in the study, on the costs for each megabyte per second consumed, Mexico City also lags behind. In fact, it is the third with the highest price per Mbps of the 28 cities studied (0.41 dollars per Mbps or 8.53 pesos per Mbps), only surpassed by Amsterdam and Toronto.
This relationship, seen from another perspective, also leaves the connectivity that can be enjoyed in the CDMX in a bad way, because for every dollar that consumers pay to providers, only a speed of 2.46 Mbps is accessed.
Paris is the champion metropolis in this area, offering 17.22 Mbps of internet speed for every dollar paid.
Finally, Mexico City is also the third with the lowest download speed, since it ranges between 100 and 116 Mbps, according to advertisers. A speed that is far from the first place, Hong Kong, where the average is 1,450 Mbps.
