Exchange rate today Tuesday
The local currency was trading at 17.0820 units per dollar, with a loss of 0.27% against the Reuters reference price on Monday.
“Among emerging markets, the bias is negative and the Mexican peso loses, extending yesterday’s (Monday) depreciation of 0.3%,” Grupo Financiero Banorte said in an analysis note.
Investors await retail sales data for July in the United States for the day, where positive figures are expected to show solid consumer activity in the world’s leading economy.
The economic agenda for Mexico is scant for this week, so the main “drivers” for the currency are concentrated in China’s debt problems and economic activity -which especially affect the outlook for raw materials- and in data from USA.
During the session, the exchange rate is expected to trade between 16.98 and 17.15 pesos per dollar, estimated Banco Base.
