Exchange rate today Wednesday
At the opening of this Wednesday, the exchange rate is around 16.74 pesos per dollar, an appreciation of 0.31% compared to Tuesday’s closing registered by the Bank of Mexico.
The dollar-weighted index has been down for three consecutive sessions, due to the publication of weaker-than-expected economic indicators in the United States, Banco Base said.
The US Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was revised downward, showing annualized quarterly growth of 2.1%, below the preliminary estimate of 2.4%, during the second quarter of the year.
On the other hand, the ADP employment survey showed the creation of 117,000 job positions during August in the United States, which is below the 195,000 expected by the market.
Interest rate would remain unchanged in Mexico in 2023
The head of Emerging Markets Research at S&P, José Pérez, said he expects Mexico’s policy rate to remain stable for the rest of the year and that it could begin to decline as early as 2024, in an interview released on Wednesday in a Banorte podcast.
