The always versatile and results prawns they fix any meal for us by easily adding quality proteins to any dish and deceiving ourselves with that idea of proletarian luxury that we associate with this seafood. If they continue to be the festive starter par excellence at Christmas, weddings and communions, it will be for a reason.
This time we are not going to suggest cooking grilled prawns, nor in the classic garlic sauce, much less in crispy tempura. We fancy an informal weekend recipe to eat with your hands but with an original point, something more special and that gets out of the routine. Besides without passing hot flashes in the kitchen or at the table, because we have already gone through three heat waves and we haven’t even been halfway through summer.
That’s why the Vietnamese-style vegetable and prawn rolls are great for a dinner at home with your partner, family or friends, which can be completed with other Asian-inspired dishes or as an exotic alternative for those who don’t like sushi or are tired of ordering food from the neighborhood Chinese. With some already cooked prawns we will save a lot of work, and we will only have to cut the vegetables and soak the wafers or rice paper.
Although they admit frying and baking, in summer the rice wafers feel better when cold, elastic and tender, much lighter than other types of masses and that admit many different fillings. The best accompaniment is soy sauce for dipping, but we can always add other dressings to the table, for example with a more spicy sauce.
