We had literally been talking about the new OnePlus flagship for months and about two weeks ago the presentation date of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro was confirmed. After a few extra leaks that have shown us all the details of these phones, they have finally been presented and we already have all the details you should know about them. Below you will find all the information and images of the new OnePlus phones that point to the highest in the market.
We have decided to bring in the same news all the information about these two models, since they are quite similar except for some specific characteristics, although they share a processor, memory configurations and a very similar design. We leave you with all the details.
OnePlus 8 design and features
You could summarize the design of the OnePlus 8 very briefly: it is an OnePlus 7 Pro changing the pop-up camera for the hole in the screen. It would be the easiest way to get an idea of what its design is like, but we review it because not everything meets this standard. As we have already mentioned, the OnePlus 8 has the front camera in a hole in the screen, specifically located in the upper left corner of it, just before the curvature that the screen glass presents on the sides.
The frames are well used, but at first, it gives us the feeling that the OnePlus 7 Pro performed better in this section, although it must be borne in mind that this OnePlus 8 is a little smaller with its 6.55-inch diagonal.
On the back, OnePlus has chosen to continue with a design almost identical to the one we have been seeing for a couple of years on their phones, with the camera module in the central part and in vertical format. Inside we have three camera sensors. Beneath this module, the LED flash and the new OnePlus logo. The rear glass finish depending on versions is matte or glossy.
In the side, top and bottom frames of this OnePlus 8, we find different elements. At the bottom, the USB Type-C charging port, main calling microphone and main multimedia speaker. On the right side, a power button and the brand’s Alert Slider to switch between sound profiles. On the left side, the volume buttons.

The datasheet is very complete, but there are a couple of details that we would have thought logical to implement in a phone in this price range. The first, its third camera, which instead of a macro should be telephoto. In addition, OnePlus has already shown us that they knew how to combine macro with wide-angle. Even the OnePlus 7T has a telephoto camera. Also to mention that the main camera is the same that we had last year, so we do not expect an evolution in this regard.
OnePlus 8 Pro design and features
The OnePlus 8 Pro totally shares the aesthetic line with the normal model, because except for their size, they are almost identical. The screen also has a curvature on its sides, although more pronounced than in the normal model and the front camera is in the same position: in the upper left corner. In this case, the screen diagonal amounts to 6.78 inches, although in terms of overall dimensions there are no excessively drastic changes.
At the back is where we can see the most differences, especially due to the camera module. The main one in images we can already see that it has a larger size, although we still have three cameras in it, in vertical arrangement as well. This already indicates that the size of the sensors will be larger than in the normal model. Also, on the left side of these cameras, we have a fourth sensor, along with an autofocus laser and dual-LED flash.
The buttons and ports are also kept intact, with the Alert Slider and the lock button on the right side and the volume keys on the left. In the lower frame, main speaker (although the call speaker acts as stereo), call microphone and USB type C.

In this case, the datasheet becomes even more interesting. In this case, the cameras do present an interesting improvement at first glance. Especially the main camera, which is the same one that we found in the Oppo Find X2 Pro, which although it maintains resolution, has a larger sensor, which allows it to capture more and better light. The wide-angle, 48 megapixel, is somewhat unusual, but from what the brand has told us, it seems that the only real benefit will be having more resolution to be able to enlarge in the shots of this camera without losing detail.
For the first time, OnePlus has integrated wireless charging into their phones, as well as IP68 certification. In addition, it has done it in style, with one of the fastest wireless chargers on the market. The MEMC technology that we have mentioned together with the 120 Hz of its screen, will allow us to reproduce content at 120 fps, interpolating the videos from 24 fps to this rate, although it is something that will have to be seen how it does. OnePlus has also enabled 120Hz at QuadHD + resolution.
Price and availability
These OnePlus 8 will be released for sale in almost the entire European market, including Spain. Of course, we still do not see official availability of these terminals in Latin America, but in the United States and Canada, they can be purchased. Regarding their prices, they are the ones that were leaked a few days ago, so we can buy these OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro for the following cost from April 21:
- OnePlus 8 8 + 128GB: 709 euros
- OnePlus 8 12 + 256GB: 809 euros
- OnePlus 8 Pro 8 + 128GB: 909 euros
- OnePlus 8 Pro 12 + 256GB: 1009 euros
- 30W wireless charger: 69.95 euros
It is a very significant increase compared to its predecessors and it seems that 5G is responsible again. Now it remains to be seen if this increase is justified when compared to its competition or not.
