Waves of layoffs at several big tech companies have left tech professionals concerned about market instability. Only Google and Microsoft add 22 thousand layoffs in 2023, according to data from the Layoffs.fyi platform.
The scenario seems to be worrying due to the economic crisis, high inflation and interest rates, in addition to the war in Ukraine and its consequences in the disruption of international supply chains.
Another factor that contributed to such instability was over-hiring, carried out during the pandemic to meet the needs that arose in that specific period.
However, the demand for IT (information technology) professionals should continue throughout the year.
“Even with this good signage, workers in this sector must be attentive to what the market demands. Professional and technical qualifications, experience and adaptation remain important requirements that must be taken into account”, comments Giuliana Corbo, CEO of Nearsure, a company dedicated to connecting IT talent from Latin America with the North American market.

The scenario may seem worrying, but the research points to optimistic numbers..
