Ford’s goal is that by 2035, its entire vehicle portfolio, both passenger and commercial, will be completely electric. The new Ford Kuga takes another step towards that goal, including plug-in hybrid and self-charging hybrid (FHEV) propulsion systems.
While that moment arrives, Ford has renewed one of its cars that gives it the most joy, the Ford Kuga. On this occasion, We have a vehicle with a cleaner design inside, where the Kuga Active finish also debuts with a more aggressive and elegant style and the latest generation of SYNC 4, with which we will be more connected than ever with our car, especially through the incredible 13.2-inch screen.
If you like technology in cars, look at everything that the Ford Kuga brings
The new Ford Kuga includes the SYNC 4 communication and entertainment system, with an automatic learning system that interprets the driver’s commands and thus displays more accurate search results. You can control SYNC 4 both by voice and through the 13.2-inch screen. Some of the most used functions, such as heating, appear below the screen for easier access.
The most important options and navigation menus are configurable, to give more priority to aspects such as driving mode or aids and assistance.
All versions of the new Ford Kuga They include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so we can connect our phone to the car. It also includes a 5G modem to have an ultra-fast connection on board. As for the voice assistant, it includes Alexa Built-in, with which we can ask questions or give orders, even without having our phone connected. Ford has also improved voice recognition, available in 15 languages and reacting to commands such as “OK SYNC or Hey, Ford.”
From the phone too we can use FordPass with which we will have full access and knowledge of the car, such as fuel or oil levels, or remote start.
Finally, the new Ford Kuga also provides access to the Connected Navigation service, with real-time traffic information, faster routes or weather conditions.
Hybrid technology improvement
The new Kuga Plug-in Hybrid represents the perfect combination between the efficiency and refinement of an electrified propulsion with the autonomy and driving freedom of a combustion engine.
Powered by a 2.5 liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine, an electric motor, a generator and a 14.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, this vehicle offers a total output of 243 HP. In terms of emissions, the Kuga Plug-in Hybrid has approved CO2 emissions (WLTP) of 20-28 g/km and fuel consumption that ranges between 0.9-1.2 l/100 km. In addition, it provides a remarkable all-electric driving range of 60-69 km.
Kuga Hybrid’s self-charging FHEV propulsion system provides the ability to drive purely electric, with the option of front-wheel drive or Ford Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The combination of the 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine, electric block, generator and lithium-ion battery results in certified CO2 emissions (WLTP) of 121-146 g/km and fuel consumption that varies between 5.3 and 6.4 l/100 km. With a range of up to 900 km on a single tank of fuel and an impressive 64 percent pure electric driving in urban environments, the Kuga Hybrid redefines the sustainable driving experience.
