Xiaomi is not the only manufacturer that has revealed its flagship ahead of time to boast of incorporating the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the latest Qualcomm processor. Honor also wanted to reveal some features of the Magic 6, which will be announced soon and will arrive with this SoC to incorporate some AI functions. Among them, one that will allow you to interact with the device using your eyes.
George Zhao, CEO of Honor, has shown this feature at Qualcomm’s annual summit in Hawaii. Without revealing, however, specifications about the Honor Magic 6 or its appearance, beyond the front. The company calls this technology Magic Capsule, and it consists of a “multimodal interaction based on eye tracking”. This, in addition, works thanks to the processor, which in turn allows up to 7 billion AI computing parameters to be executed on the device itself, and has very interesting utilities.
The Magic Capsule of the Honor Magic 6, specifically, is a kind of dynamic island that is located at the top of the screen. Above all, it allows you to open applications with your eyes. Its operation is simple; When the Magic Capsule displays information on the screen—for example, route directions in the maps app—the user can look directly at it to expand the information slightly. If you hold your gaze for a few seconds, the app will open completely. This, of course, also works thanks to a system of cameras located at the top of the screen.
The Honor Magic 6 will have other functions powered by AI
At the moment, Honor has only shown a small demonstration clip of this technology present in its Honor Magic 6. It remains to be seen if it will really work as well as the company paints it. Furthermore, there arise privacy concerns of the user, since it is likely that Honor allows third-party developers to create or adapt their apps to this AI function.
In any case, the Magic Capsule is not the only AI-powered feature that Honor will include in its device. The Chinese firm also will integrate a virtual assistant capable of performing actions such as summarizing videos or trimming them, joining only the most interesting clips.
At the moment, the launch date of the Honor Magic 6 is unknown. The company is likely to announce it in China in the coming months, and in the global market early next year.
