Hospitality of Spain, in collaboration with Edenred, has prepared a study to analyze the price evolution of the daily menu in our country in the current months of 2023, and thus be able to analyze the possible impact that the inflation and the price crisis of recent times in the sector.
According to the data collected, the average price of the daily menu is already at 13.2 euros, which represents an increase of 3.4% compared to the 2022 average, which was 12.8 euros. Thus, today’s cost is 12.6% higher than the 11.7 euros that were registered for the first time in 2016.
Despite this constant increase in prices, the association highlights that they are “very below the evolution of the CPI” regarding food and beverages, whose prices have increased by 20.6% and 34% respectively since 2016, with a large increase in inflation in food and beverages of 10.5% in the month of September compared to the same period last year.
The survey reveals that 76% of restaurants have increased the price of their daily menu in the last 9 months. The cities with the highest average prices are Barcelona (14.7 euros), Madrid (14.5 euros) and Bilbao (14 euros). On the other hand, localities with a lower price middle of the menu of the day are Sevilla (12.3 euros), Valencia (12.7 euros) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (11.9 euros).
These are the conclusions drawn from a study carried out at the beginning of this month of October collecting data from 1,400 surveys carried out throughout Spain.
