Developing a video game is an incredibly complex process. In fact, many of the challenges that a studio faces are only known internally, as most maintain their activity with the greatest possible secrecy. However, there are rare cases in which companies open their doors to show us what the adventure of creating a game is like. The next one to do it is Naughty Dog, who will throw a documentary about the development of The Last of Us Part II.
Needless to say, it is one of the most acclaimed games of recent times. For many, it is in the top 5 of the best titles that the previous generation of consoles left us. The above, of course, is a matter of taste.
What cannot be denied is that The Last of Us Part IIlike many titles that were being developed at the time, had to face a completely unexpected obstacle: the pandemic.
In the trailer of Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part IIas they titled the documentary, you can see that everything was going according to plan, until the health crisis impacted the world.
Almost at the beginning of the trailer, they even mention that the documentary was forgotten after the pandemic began. And Naughty Dog employees had to follow confinement rules and move work home. Continuing production was then ruled out.
The remastering of The Last of Us Part II It is just around the corner
What has caused PlayStation’s internal studio to recover material that was already recorded? Well, next January 19 they will launch The Last of Us Part II Remasteredan exclusive remastering for the PS5.
Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part II, therefore, is part of the game’s advertising campaign. “Learn, directly from the Naughty Dog team, what it took to bring the acclaimed sequel to life The Last of Us Part IIwith a new look behind the scenes of its development,” says the studio.
The content obviously involves several Naughty Dog developers. Including Neil Druckmannhead of the game and who also took the reins—along with Craig Mazin—of the series of The Last of Us. There are several employees who share their experience of participating in such an important project not only for the studio, but for the entire PlayStation division.
For now, the documentary It doesn’t have a release date yet.. We also do not know through which platform it will be distributed. Considering that the release of the remaster is just around the corner, we will surely have more details in the coming days.
