With 77%, Mexicans are the most urgent on vacation, followed by the French, Germans and Australians.
This is understandable if one takes into account that the United States, Mexico and Singapore were the countries with the fewest vacation days and they were taken in 2022.
While the Japanese received an average of 22 days of vacation in the year, the Mexicans only 13.5 days. And, furthermore, they only took 12.5 days of them.
“There are various factors why people do not take vacations and it goes beyond not having free time; Many times one ponders how difficult it can be to coordinate with family and friends”, comments Joseba Cortázar, public relations director for Expedia brands.
Recently, a reform came into force in Mexico so that workers enjoy a minimum of 12 days of vacation per year.
Willing to sacrifice for a trip
Although 78% of Mexican travelers suffer the consequences of inflation, traveling is a priority for them. When surveyed, they admitted that they are more likely to be cautious when shopping and avoid eating out than to postpone a trip.
The generation Z registers the levels with the greatest lack of vacations (82%), while the Baby Boomers report the lowest levels (53%), points out the report . And it also indicates that 85% of Mexicans want a four-day week.
