The rumored iPad Air with an OLED screen could become a reality very soon. According The Electric, LG Display is moving some of its production equipment used at its plant in Gumi, South Korea, to its other factory in Paju. An unusual process because this type of machinery can be damaged in transport. The key, as indicated, could be that the Cupertino company plans to announce its first iPad with an OLED screen ahead of schedule.
According to the aforementioned source, the LG Display plant in Paju already manufactures OLED panels for the iPhone and the objective of the South Korean company is to increase the capacity of the plant so that it is also possible manufacture about 15,000 rigid OLED screens for the iPad per month. This would mean a doubling of production capacity on small and medium screens.
The Electric also revealed that Apple intended to announce an iPad with OLED screen in 2022. The panels, in particular, would be manufactured by Samsung and LG.
