Android TV has a competitor; a new operating system named Titan OS, developed by a company of the same name based in Barcelona (Spain), which seeks to gain a foothold in the market by offering those manufacturers that have smart televisions, but not their own operating systems, to bet on its interface. The startup, in fact, has already signed a partnership with TP Vision, a subsidiary of brands such as Philips and AOC, to include this new operating system in millions of televisions.
Titan OS, specifically, is a company founded by experts in the entertainment and communication sectors, and cIt has investments from companies such as Disney, Roku, Rakuten TV and KKR. The firm is dedicated to software development and, specifically, to the development of an operating system that, according to the company itself, stands out for “offering a personalized user experience and simplifying content discovery.”
The new operating system It is compatible with the main streaming platforms, such as Disney+, Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Pluto TV and Danz, among others. And although we don’t know many details about it, beyond an image, the interface seems to be very similar to what Google offers in its operating system for the television, including a main page where you can see the most recent applications. Each of them will also show a screen with recommended content or content related to what the user has seen.
Titan OS will come to Philips TVs
The company has confirmed that Titan OS It will be the operating system for millions of Philips televisions as part of a collaboration with TP Vision. For the moment, they have only detailed that the new platform will be deployed to compatible models throughout 2024 in both Europe and Latin America. Philips TVs will therefore no longer have Saphi, a Linux-based operating system.
For his part, Jostas Vouzas, CEO of TP Vision for Europe and Latin America, details that the implementation of Titan OS will allow them to implement their “own customization and product integration”, and that users will benefit “by having easy access both to premium global services and to increase and simplify your access to more local content”
Titan OS has also launched a advertising platform for Smart TV, which will allow advertisers to promote their content in different sections. From Titan OS, however, they affirm that they adhere to local regulations on privacy and data protection.
