The Google pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have a new color. Also, new AI features. Google has presented, after three months since its launch, a new version in green of its flagships that arrives along with what the company calls Pixel Drop; a package of new features that reaches the terminals through a software update.
Google has named the new color that joins the three already available “mint”, and It is available as well as for the base version, as for the Pro model. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in mint color have exactly the same features, as well as the same price as the rest of the variants. The novelty, therefore, is only in the tone of the back, which is slightly greenish—depending on the light, it may even look somewhat whitish.
The terminal frames also change to a green tone.; in this case, brighter, making a very good contrast with the back. In Hypertextual We have been able to see it up close before its official launch, and the truth is that the color is very visually attractive. Google has also included a default theme with green elements, such as icons or wallpaper.
These are the three new AI functions coming to the Pixel 8
The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in green actually do receive news. In fact, all the color versions do this, since it is the January Pixel Drop; a software update that arrives starting today with new artificial intelligence functions.
One of them is Circle to Search, a feature that we also see in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and that allows you to search for any element that appears on the screen, only by surrounding it. For example, if we are watching a video and we don’t know what models of sneakers appear in the scene, we just need to hold down the start button, circle the sneakers and wait for the Google search to do its job.
Another of the functions that comes to the Google Pixel 8 is the magic wording in messages app. This characteristic makes generative AI capable of formulating the message we have written in different tones—formal, friendlier, more theatrical, etc.—. The company claims that this is a function that runs on the device itself, thanks to Gemini nano, its language model.
Lastly, Google has activated a new feature called Photomoji, which allows you to transform photos into reactions through AI. To do this, the user only has to select a photo, react with an emoji and artificial intelligence will transform the image into a kind of emoji with a reaction.
All these new features, we reiterate, will reach the Pixel 8 via a software update which has already begun to unfold. On the other hand, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in mint color are now available in the Google store at a price of 1,099 and 799 euros respectively.
