Have you ever thought what a folding iPhone would look like? Well, it seems that you don’t have to imagine it anymore. The iPhone V is here, and it’s a foldable version of Apple’s device. As you can imagine, it is not those from Cupertino who are behind this invention, but finally allows us to see what the mythical design of the iPhone would look like with a “slight” twist.
It has been the YouTube channel 科技美学directed by “The Rock”, who has set to work to create its own folding version of the iPhone. As he mentions in the first seconds of the video, “of the top 7 phone manufacturers in the world, six of them have already introduced folding screens.” Apple, however, is the only one that has not jumped on the bandwagon; despite the patents that show an iPhone of this type.
Because of this, The Rock has asked himself the question: “Could we build one ourselves?”. The answer, of course, is yes. This is what a folding iPhone not designed by Apple looks like.
How this impressive folding iPhone has been built
On his YouTube channel, The Rock not only shows us the final result. In addition, he has also shared the design and development process of the iPhone V, a folding version that inspires its name from Samsung’s Z Flip.
Following the design philosophy of a foldable device, The Rock has separated the internal components of the iPhone into two parts. The upper one, which contains the battery and the front and rear camera sensors. The lower part, on the other hand, houses the device’s motherboard, along with the processor and memory. Both areas are connected at the central joint.
How long has it taken to create this folding iPhone? According to the creator, it has been an effort that has taken a whole year to materialize. For it, used up to three 3D printers to create a case for iPhone partswhich allows it to be folded, while keeping all the important features of the terminal functional.
The YouTube channel has even gone to the trouble of creating a promotional video for the device, in true Apple style. In it, they ensure that this iPhone V supports 5G connectivity, and is powered by an A16 Bionic processor. It also has a 12 MP front camera, a Super Retina XDR screen and the ability to fold in half. Not bad for a fan-made project..
