The dutch brand Seasogood (from English, the sea is so good) is about to launch its canned alternatives of plant-based tuna. An important challenge considering that Spain is a great consumer of shellfish, molluscs and crustaceans. The tuna will be available in four flavors: natural, tomato, olive oil and lemon and black pepper.
Seasogood was born in the Netherlands in 2021, where it established itself as the first plant-based canned tuna in the country. Available in almost all the big Dutch supermarkets, it coexists in the gondola next to conventional tuna.
The alternative to tuna is made from soy, algae and aromas like sea buckthorn berries. The brand ensures that it is minimally processed and free of preservatives. It also retains the iron and omega-3 fatty acids that the animal originally presents, it is a protein source. According to Seasogood, it is ideal for dishes such as niçoise or nizarda salad and to accompany pizzas and toasts or as part of a tomato filling or spaghetti with tuna.

Seasogood co-founder Michael Luesink was proud that the product can contribute to replace conventional fish. In this way, Seasogood joins the repertoire of alternatives plant-based and vegetable meats that abound today, with a more conscious product and in balance with the environment. “The oceans have shielded us from the biggest impact of global warming,” say the founders of Seasogood. “Now it’s up to us to protect him.”
