Fans of The Batman discover a similarity between Paul Dano’s Riddler with the one played by Jim Carrey in the nineties.
Internet detectives are relentless. This time, they discovered a connection, minimal but worth mentioning, between the Riddler of The Batman with the one played by Jim Carrey.
While Paul Dano in The Batman offered us a new twist on the character by turning him into a chilling mass murderer, in Batman Forever we saw a Riddler played by Jim Carrey with a comic tone very much in keeping with what we saw in the 1966 Batman series. television show we saw Frank Gorshin bring to life a Riddler who, as in the comics, had a naivety typical of the time. This attitude was enhanced by Carrey’s light-hearted comedy.
And despite the disparity in the obvious proposals between The Batman’s Riddler with Paul Dano and Jim Carrey’s, fans have found a connection: the glasses.
As the Twitter user pointed out @Guslivesagain in a tweet, Paul Dano’s clear-rimmed glasses are identical to those worn by Edward Nygma in Joel Schumacher’s 1995 film.

This easter egg is not strange to us, as Matt Reeves’ proposal pays tribute to a large number of previous Batman universes, from comics and video games to movies.
