He Signal U, BYD’s electric SUV that aims to compete against Tesla’s Model Y, will be available very soon in Spain. This has been confirmed by the Asian company, who has revealed the prices and different configurations of this vehicle, which will arrive with up to 500 km of autonomy in its most powerful variant and with a base price of 42,290 euros in the case of the most modest version.
BYD has confirmed that pre-sales will begin in the coming weeks, and that deliveries will begin in the second quarter of 2024. The Seal U, specifically, arrives in our country in two different configurations whose main difference is in its autonomy. The company, on the one hand, will launch in Spain in a version comfort with a 218 HP motor and a 71.8 kWh capacity battery that will offer up to 420 km of autonomy. And, on the other hand, a variant Design with an 87.0 kWh battery and a range of up to 500 km. The Seal U comfort, on the other hand, has an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of 9.3 seconds, while the Design version reaches 100 km in 9.6 seconds.
Both versions They also differ in their equipment.. The BYD Seal U Design adds a dynamic welcome light, an entertainment system with a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a rain sensor, a color-changing ambient lighting system, a head-up display system, a wireless charging and a sound system.
In terms of pricing, the Comfort model will be available for 42,290 euroswhile the Design version will start from the 45,790 euros. They are, however, prices without promotions or applied aid. Taking into account that there are currently programs such as the MOVES III plan, and that the company also offers a discount as help, the base model costs 34,080 euros, while the version with 500 km of autonomy costs 37,580 euros.
BYD Seal U: this is the alternative to the Tesla Model Y
Regarding design and performance, both versions of the Seal U are available with five seats and have dimensions of 4,785 mm long, 1,668 mm high and 2,085 mm wide, including mirrors. It is, therefore, a very similar size to the Model Y.
The BYD Seal U also arrives with BYD Blade batteries, which includes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) instead of nickel and cobalt, with the aim of extending its useful life. It also has an infotainment system available on a touch screen and electric rotation LCD screen of 12.8 inches in the case of the base model, or 15.6 inches in the Design version.
In terms of safety and driving aids, the Seal U includes a front and rear collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot driving system or intelligent speed limit control. BYD has also included a camera system to allow you to see what is happening outside when maneuvering and parking, including one that offers a top-down view.
