However, despite all the uncertainties that the world of work had, seven months of 2023 have already passed and we are getting more and more answers, but the path continues. One of the questions that resonated in this first semester was linked to the redesign of the workplace, that is, would all employees return to the workplace? No? Can we apply a flexible scheme and if so, what happens and how do I work with the organizational culture? Where is the “heart” of the companies?
Additionally, firms began to rethink total compensation packages that would allow them to attract and retain the talent they need, coupled with the “new ingredient”: flexibility. Another aspect that we observed these months was the gap that exists among the skills that we need in our organizations given the new technologies and the entire current context, in order to generate results vs what we have today.
A report published by the World Economic Forum, at the beginning of this year, mentioned that around 80 million jobs will be lost between now and 2025; however, 90 million new jobs will be created, which demand many skills which today we still do not have.
A very simple example was the appearance of tools such as Chat GPT, which obtained 10 million adopters of the application in 24 hours. This indicates that we are going there, we are getting closer and closer to new technologies and that, without a doubt, comes to transform the way in which we can do things today.
What’s next for the rest of the year? Certainly, a question that will be resonating with many. The main challenge that corporations will have is how to really They manage to attract and retain the employee. The world requires us to consider points such as: diversity, equity and inclusion, ESG, living wage, financial health, integral well-being, etc. This represents a challenge in how to build a solid value proposition for employees, who obviously know what they need.
The trends tell us that if we can’t take all these elements, put them into practice and change the experience of our employees in this journey From the time they enter to the time they leave the organization, we are going to face more difficulties in the following years.
