The Amar restaurant in Barcelona has obtained the distinction People’s Choice that recognizes the establishment as the better opening last year at the awards TheFork Restaurant Awardswhich have just celebrated their second edition in 2023.
These awards organized by the popular booking platform, formerly known as Forkseek to recognize the work of recently opened restaurants through a mixed selection and voting system in which both chefs with a recognized track record like their own clients and diners of the different locations.
Professional chefs such as Andoni Luis Aduriz, Begoña Rodrigo and Martín Berasategui nominated the 10 finalists chosen from among the new openings of 2022 that have managed to successfully overcome the first year of activity, it being the task of the platform users to distribute the final votes to recognize the winner.
Thus, Amar, the new restaurant in Hotel The Palace Barcelona in collaboration with the chef Rafa Zafrahas emerged as the best gastronomic restaurant opened last year, with a menu that revolves around Mediterranean culture with special prominence of seafood and without forgetting Catalan cuisine or updated classic haute cuisine dishes.
The awards gala was held at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid with a menu prepared by five female chefBegoña Rodrigo (La Salita, Valencia), Puigdevall and Puigvert (Les Cols (Olot, Girona), María José Martínez (Lienzo, Valencia), Susi Diaz (La Finca Elche, Alicante) and María Gómez García, (Magoga, Cartagena, Murcia).TheFork thus intended to “pay tribute to the female figure in the Spanish and world gastronomic scene.”
