The Apple Watch Series 8 “Pro” -the most expensive version of it and intended for extreme sports-, will have the biggest design change to the company’s smartwatch since the Apple Watch Series 4 (2018).
This is revealed by Mark Gurman in Bloomberg, who has revealed numerous details about the future Apple Watch Series 8 in recent weeks. Nicknamed “Pro” -in the absence of official information-, the journalist assures that “it will be one of the most exciting product launches” of the year by the Cupertino firm.
Larger screen, but without rectangular borders
One of the biggest novelties of the Apple Watch Series 8 “Pro” will be its screen, 7% larger than the current larger one. According to the aforementioned medium, this will large enough that only a fraction of potential customers are attracted to it.
Given that one of its purposes will be its use in extreme sportsa larger screen could help improve interaction in certain situations.
Instead of only two sizes for the face, the Apple Watch Series 8 would arrive this year in 3 different options, therefore. The standard models would be within dimensions close to those already known so far, while only the “Pro” model would experience the aforementioned notable increase.
Evolution for the Apple Watch Series 8 “Pro”
Although the Apple Watch Series 8 “Pro” will arrive with a renewed design, it will not be anything radical. Instead, this iteration aims to be more of an evolution than a drastic change.
In this way, it will keep the rectangular design, instead of opting for a new circular format. It will also not have more angular and flat edges –in the style of the iPhone 12 and 13–, as has been rumored on numerous occasions. It will maintain the form factor that it currently presents and that is already well known.
Finally, and in relation to the need to make a more resistant smartwatch for its aforementioned use in extreme sports, the Californian technology would also modify the elements present in its construction. Instead of creating the device with a stainless steel body, this time a more ferrous titanium would be chosen.
