Usually, the movie we see in theaters is not the original product. All film projects go through hundreds of changes before they are approved by their creators, producers, and distributors. In some cases, these modifications are made in favor of the story or to make it more accessible to the public. In the latter case, not long ago it was revealed the alternate ending of The Lion Kingwhich had a more disturbing conclusion.
As you will remember, The Lion King it concludes with Simba and Scar fighting while their home is engulfed in flames. Originally, our protagonist manages to defeat his uncle by throwing him from the top of Pride Rock. Here, the villain falls next to some hyenas, who go on to devour him after learning of his true feelings towards them. Nevertheless, the alternate ending was considered much more disturbing for children of that time.
Simba was originally planned to be thrown from the top of Pride Rock. Here, Scar would be so focused on his victory that he wouldn’t even notice the fire consuming him. While the villain celebrates and laughs, the fire would have consumed him until he was burned alive. Without a doubt, an equally brutal ending, but a little more graphic for its time.
On related topics, we already know when Lightyear It’s coming to Disney+. Similarly, the original series of clone wars has reached this platform.
Editor’s note:
Both endings for Scar are terrifying. However, the one we saw on the big screen makes it clear that his actions and the way he treats the hyenas are what ultimately defeat him, and not so much a situation where his own ambition ends up consuming him.
