The terminal has the challenge of being profitable this year, as stated by both President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Isidoro Pastor, general director of the project.
The AIFA is coming from its busiest months. After registering 266,649 passengers last July, the airport will receive more flights from Aeroméxico, which will transfer some of its operations from the AICM and open two new routes to León and Aguascalientes.
This comes after the federal government decided to reduce the limit of AICM operations per hour, which will go from 52 to 43 flights starting next January 8, a date that was set after being extended from October 29, when it was initially sought to implement the cut.
