Tesla owner and Twitter boss Elon Musk reposted the message with the comment: “Congratulations to the Tesla team.”
Consulted by AFP, the company had no immediate comment on Saturday.
In April, the manufacturer had indicated that the start of production of this truck was “on track” according to plan during the current year at its new factory in Texas.
The futuristic design machine, a kind of metal casing with rather unusual angular lines, had been presented in November 2019.
His presentation caused a stir when, at Musk’s request, a collaborator hit one of his armored windows with a steel hammer to show the unfailing solidity of the machine. The window broke, drawing a laugh and a curse from the tycoon, and a second window suffered the same fate in a later attempt.
Two days after the presentation, Tesla said it had received nearly 150,000 pre-orders, which require a refundable first payment of just $100.
