The fight between Telegram and WhatsApp often ends with the latter on the losing side, at least in terms of features. However, it seems that, for the first time, the former has decided to take something that his opponent had already had for a long time. Now, it is the company itself who, from its account Twitter, confirms the arrival of Stories to the most versatile instant messaging app.
Of course, if you want to upload your first Story to Telegram, first you will have to subscribe to the Premium service of the application. As they comment in the aforementioned tweet, only these users will be able to enjoy this function. However, the use of the word “currently” in the announcement leads us to believe that it could soon be available to everyone.
Who can see Telegram Stories? The company has confirmed that all your users will be able to view, respond and react to the posts of their contacts. However, if you want the button to publish your own photos and videos to appear, you will have to subscribe to the Premium service. The latter costs 4.49 euros per month, although you can get it even cheaper if you do it from the bot scheduled by the company.
The new features that come with Telegram Stories
Telegram Stories remind us a lot of what we have already seen on Facebook Messenger. These bubbles will appear at the top of the conversations screen. In addition, like the Meta version, you can also select who from your contact list can see them or not, and even create a best friends list. Finally, just like in BeReal, you can upload photos and videos showing what your rear and front cameras see at the same time.
If you don’t want to see the Stories of a specific contact, Telegram allows you to hide them indefinitely. You just have to touch and move it to the Hidden tab. Finally, unlike WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, here you can choose the duration of your posts. That is, you can make them disappear in 24 hoursas usual, but also in 6, 12 or 48 hours. If, on the other hand, you never want them to disappear, you can highlight them on your profile so everyone can see them when they enter.
Telegram Stories have already begun their rollout. Keep in mind that these features can take up to several weeks to appear. Nevertheless, make sure you have your app updated to the latest version to be one of the first to receive it.
