As of today, Telegram has just over 700 million users worldwide.
In a new Telegram update, WhatsApp’s competitor social network has teamed up with Google to improve the user experience, but what is it about?
Instant messaging apps are, today, very useful for people, in a context in which the internet is growing day by day and the presence of Internet users is increasing.
Today, a large community of Internet users has various options to communicate with each other, whether through WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat or Telegram. In the end, each of these apps has its own design and offers different experiences to users.
Under this framework, WhatsApp, Meta’s social network, is the market leader with its more than two billion users; However, recently, Telegram began to gain popularity, especially since, a few months ago, there was a severe drop in the services of Mark Zuckerberg’s company.
On that occasion, according to what was reported, Telegram added 70 million new users, while, to date, there are already just over 700 million people who use this social network.
Telegram turns to Google for more user security
The growing demand of users has allowed social networks to be constantly updated, because, in a certain way, the idea of ”renovate or die” is one of the insignia of the so-called digital culture, where everything changes from one moment to another.
WhatsApp’s competitor social network is no exception and, based on this premise, this year has been one of the most active for the platform in terms of updates, with its version premium one of the most recent.
Now, as part of this constant renewal, Telegram announced a collaboration with Google in search of offering a broader panorama to users who, for the next few years, wish to create their own account.
The idea, basically, is to provide greater security to Internet users, because, now, the platform will ask users to link a Gmail account so that, when they log in from a new or unrecognized device, Telegram use this verification method to increase the level of security in your application.
Until now, it is only a rumor that spread through Twitter thanks to a developer named Alessandro Paluzzi, famous for making this type of news known; however, everything indicates that it will soon become official.

Social media security
In the digital world, as we have seen, it is very easy to hack accounts on various platforms. According to data from Cisoverso, a private community of cybersecurity professionals, one in five social network users are attacked or hacked in a 24-hour period.
Given this, various platforms have their own security strategies, as announced by Instagram, which will use Artificial Intelligence to offer a safer space.
The idea of Instagram is to include in its platform a function capable of scanning the face of users in order to estimate the real age of Internet users, this because, according to what the social network reportsthere are users who lie about their age and are subject to all kinds of situations that can be harmful.
For years, there has been a call to regulate the functions of social networks in order to be less harmful to minors.
