The laboratory The ThinXof Telefonica Tech, has doubled its capacities with the inauguration of its new space in the company’s global Innovation and Talent Hub. In this way, the group intends to be prepared to meet the needs of a growing number of institutions, partners and clients.
With the new The ThinX laboratory, Telefónica Tech intends to provide more tools for digital transformation projects. The facilities and their staff of experts are prepared to deal with developments related to Big Data, Blockchain or the “Internet of Things” (IoT).
What Telefónica proposes with The ThinX is a laboratory in which the operation of new products or services can be simulated prior to their official launch. Some of the examples that we could see were water meters, gas meters, cases for vehicles or lampposts, all of them always connected and sending information from time to time. The laboratory has the capacity to subject them to real conditions and analyze the results, before they are implemented on a massive level.
Telefónica assures that its laboratory is one of the IoT and Big Data spaces with the best (and most advanced) equipment in the world. And while The ThinX exists since 2017its new space with twice the capacity promises to anticipate the increase in demand from its customers and partners.
What is done in the new The ThinX laboratory at Telefónica Tech?
The new facilities of The ThinX have been designed to develop and test concepts, validation of IoT solutions, pilot assemblies and certification tests. The latter is really interesting, since it allows us to check if the technologies being tested are compatible with Telefónica’s networks.
It is worth mentioning that Telefónica Tech not only allows testing cellular communication technologies in its The ThinX laboratory. Access is also provided to platforms such as Smart Steps, which allows people’s behavior to be analyzed through data obtained anonymously through the Movistar network; oh kiting, your solution for IoT connectivity management. For Blockchain projects, meanwhile, it offers TrustOSwhich makes it easier to adopt this technology in different business processes.
With its new space The ThinX, in the Global Innovation and Talent Hub, Telefónica Tech takes an important step towards the future. According to the company, since the laboratory was created have already worked with more than 500 partners, customers and manufacturers in the development of more than 700 IoT solutions. In addition, it ensures that its facilities receive an average of 12 technical visits per month; and everything indicates that this number will rise.
“At The ThinX we combine all our capabilities in IoT, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain to extract the maximum value from the information generated by connected devices and help companies make better decisions based on data”, he asserted. Gonzalo Martin-Villaleader of Telefónica Tech.
