The performance of a game, especially in frame rates, has become quite an issue where the public expects almost perfect performance. However, this is not always possible. Thus, Sony is looking for a way to combat frame rate drops through a new patent. Recently, a record was found by Sony, where it talks about an improvement to the recent support for VRR. Here we are talking about a special frame rate system that takes advantage of scans to smooth out any fps drops in the most demanding sections of games.
This would be a process similar to what is done on monitors that include NVIDIA G-Sync technology. Thus, it is planned that this process would be within the rendering that the GPU does to the rendered frame rates, resulting in the minimization of these FPS drops. As always, a patent is no guarantee that something like this will happen, and Sony may well just be guarding its ideas. On related topics, the PS5 receives a new update. Similarly, the stock of this console is finally on the right track.
Editor’s Note: Although it is necessary to have a good stability of frame rates, considering that the patent would be updating the VRR, this means that we would only see improvements beyond 60fps, something that many still do not have access to. However, it is likely that in a couple of years we will see this integrated. Via: GameRantThe post Sony would plan to reduce the fps drop on the PS5 first appeared on Atomix.
