iOS 15, the new version of the operating system for the iPhone, presents small news that, a priori, can go unnoticed. However, many of these functions manage to be very useful on a day-to-day basis. One of them is the possibility of translate any text, even the one that appears in images, quickly.
In iOS 14, Apple already has a own translator. This, however, is only available through an app or through Safari, giving the possibility of translating website content into another language. With iOS 15, the translator adds to any text modifiable. It can therefore be used in a large number of apps.
To translate any item, you just need to select the word or phrase. Then a options menu in the upper area of the text. Click on the arrow icon and then on the “translate” button. The iOS translator will open to the same page.
Now, you just have to accept the permissions of the translator to show the meaning in the default language of your iPhone. it’s possible change the language through the “Change language” option that appears on the screen. The translator also offers other options, such as the ability to copy the translation, replace the phrases or add the meaning to favorites.
How to translate text in images and through the iPhone camera
Apple also allows you to translate text through Live Text, one of the most notable novelties of iOS 15. This function is really useful, especially when we want to translate words from an image, a poster, a restaurant menu, etc.
If you want to translate the text that appears in an image or photograph, you just have to click on the “Live Text” button that appears at the bottom of the screen. Afterwards, the function will highlight the zones with text. Now, you must select the words or phrase you want to translate and click on the “Translate” button that appears in the options menu.
For translate a poster or text through the camera, focus your iPhone and wait for the app to show the Live Text button at the bottom of the screen. By clicking on the button, the app will mark the text area and display the options menu. Click on “translate” to open the translator.
Translate pages in Safari with iOS 15
The Apple translator is also present in Safari. This option allows us to translate entire web pages. To do this, once inside the web, click on the “aA” button that appears in the right area of the search bar. Then click on “Translate website”. Select one of the available languages or add another language. The page will reload with the translation.
