From a young age we are taught more or less what is the best way to brush the teeth. They explain to us that we should ideally do it after each meal, that it should be done for an adequate time, covering both the areas that are seen and those that are not… In general, they are a series of steps that we believe we have controlled. But the truth is that there are some details that we may overlook.
It is better to brush your teeth few times, but following all the steps, than to do it wrong and quickly after each meal. Therefore, in this article we are going to see a list of those conditions that we may forget about.
And it is that there are some errors that are so widespread that we consider them without hesitation as the correct option. For example, are you one of those wet brush before and after putting the toothpaste? That’s the first mistake you’re making, but there are quite a few more.
Don’t get your toothbrush wet
As we were seeing one of the most widespread errors when brushing teeth is wet brush. Generally, we wet it a bit, put the paste on it, and then we wet it again.
But now let’s think about what happens when we accidentally get our sweeping brush wet. Normally we wait for it to dry or we take another one to be able to continue sweeping. This is because if its bristles are wet they cannot properly drag dirt. And with the toothbrush exactly the same thing happens.
you put too much dough
With toothpaste it happens as with soap. We usually think that more quantity and more foam means a better wash. But it’s not like that. In the end, all we get is waste a product that, especially if it is a treatment, is not cheap at all. With an amount of pea size It is enough to brush your teeth properly.
Don’t brush your teeth right away
Another of the big mistakes when brushing teeth is doing it right after eating. That way we don’t forget. The problem is that at that time the environment of the mouth is very acidic, because sugars and other components of food significantly reduce the pH. In that case, if we brush our teeth immediately, what we do is spread that acidic saliva over the teeth, increasing the probability that they will erode.
Therefore, it is recommended to wait between 15 and 30 minutes after eating before brushing teeth. Now, if we cannot wait, there is the option of rinsing the mouth with water just before, to remove part of that acid. It is not the best option, but it can be useful on a specific day.
How often do you change your toothbrush?
Fortunately, the need to regularly change the toothbrush is one of the measures that we do have internalized. But sometimes there are doubts about what is the correct time. This is actually variable. It is recommended to do every three months. However, if we see that the bristles are too bent, discolored or scarce, we must change it before.
Don’t go too fast
With the busy lives we lead, we can already be thankful for taking time to brush our teeth. The problem is that if we don’t do it for the right amount of time, it may not be of much use.
Ideally, brush them during at least two minutes. Today many electric brushes have a timer that warns in 30-second cycles and adds an alarm just after two minutes, so that we are aware of the time we use. But, if we are more of a manual brush, we can also use the mobile timer or an hourglass. Some are sold precisely so that children learn the importance of brushing their teeth for the right amount of time.

These can cause bad breath, but also contribute to the deterioration of enamel. Therefore, every time we brush our teeth we must wash it thoroughly. There are special brushes, but we can use the same one as with the teeth. Just have to rub the tongueboth up and down and to the sides. Then rinse with water and voila.
Flossing is very important
Flossing can be a bit of a hassle, but flossing is essential if we want to brush your teeth the right way. Whether we use a manual brush or an electric one, it is very difficult to reach the gaps between the teeth, so bacteria that are harmful to the mouth can proliferate right there. For this reason, interdental floss or brushes must be key pieces of our oral hygiene.
