We can record on Orange TV whether we use the operator’s decoder or if we bet on using the application for Smart TV that we can download to access the content with our username and password.
Recording characteristics
We can record for free on Orange TV as long as we have the service activated and we have this possibility in our package.
As explained from the operator’s website, we have available a total of 350 hours of recording of programs, series and movies that are broadcast on the different TV channels. The availability of recorded content is six months. That is, once you record something, you can watch it again whenever you want during that next half year until it expires.
And there are several types of recordings that we will see later: recording based on a program that allows us to record a selected program and that automatically turns on and stops when it ends, series recording so that you do not miss any episode and that it will be activated automatically, or the simultaneous recording of different channels that allows us record the content of up to three simultaneously and that will allow you to see everything they broadcast live.
Where can we record from? We can do it if we have the Orange decoder but it is also compatible as long as you have the Orange TV app installed on other devices. You can record from Android TV and from compatible Smart TV applications by following the same steps.
- Can I record all the contents?
No. It is possible that there are contents that do not have this function available and it will be shown as such when we try to record. You will only see the corresponding button, as explained from the operator’s help website, in content that allows recording. If you touch the button and it doesn’t allow it, a pop-up will warn you that you can’t.
How to record
As we have explained in previous paragraphs, there are several types of recording. We can record a single program because we want to see a movie but we are going to go to bed, for example. But you can also record all episodes of a series which is broadcast while you are in the gym or working and you cannot see.
Record a show
To record a specific program, a single content, we can do it if it is already broadcast or if it will be a future broadcast. That is, if it is already on TV and you are going to go to sleep or if it is in a couple of hours and you are not going to be home.
If you have the program on the screen at that moment, you must press the “Rec” button if you are recording from the remote control of the decoder or from the remote control of your Smart TV. If it is broadcasting, it will be recorded from the beginning. Go to the side menu in the case of the application and open “TV channels”. Find the channel that interests you, put the program and start recording with the red button at the bottom.
In case of being a future issue also we can record the programa but we must go to the Orange TV guide and look for the content that interests us. Once we have found the program or series that interests us, we touch “Rec” on the remote control over the tab. Although also in the program file, as you can see in the image below, you will see the “record” button and you simply have to go to that section and confirm with OK on your remote, be it deco or Smart TV.
Record series
Another option that Orange gives us is to record complete series. You like a series that is broadcast on television and you can record the entire season, all the episodes broadcast. Orange TV gives us the option and then stores the chapters in folders.
You just have to follow the steps above: open the application or go to deco and go to the section of “Guide”. Here you must find the series you want by accessing the channel you want to record and tap on the record icon, which It will ask you if you want to record the episode or record the entire season. Choose the option you want and confirm.
You should bear in mind that you have to have enough storage or recording capacity so that those episodes can continue to be added automatically.
View recorded content
Once we have used the options to record in Orange TV, we can go to the recordings whether you have the app for Smart TV as if you use the decoder. Use the remote to go to the menu on the left of the screen and scroll down until you find, in the side menu, the section “My recordings”. Tap to see all the details.
In this section of “My recordings” we can see which ones are complete if you have decided to record a chapter or series, for example. You will see them in the section “Completed”. But here you can also see what you have scheduled for the next few hours or days.
To play, just press OK on the TV remote. You can control the content in playback like any streaming platform: you can pause, resume, go back and rewind, move forward on the recording …
If you want to delete content, you will see an icon of a cross at the top of the thumbnail in the “My recordings” section. This will leave space to store more.
A confirmation message will appear where you must choose “Delete recording”.
You can also cancel recordings that you have programs. You simply have to go to My recordings following the previous steps and in the “scheduled” section you can tap on the “cancel recording” button so that no more chapters are stored.
As we explained at the beginning, the contents have an expiration date and are not permanently stored. Before they are removed or stop being available, a notice will appear. Orange explains: “When there are less than ten days for a content to expire, a notice about it will appear in your section of completed recordings, with the time remaining”
