An incident at the Formula 1 sponsor Aramco factory has put the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on hold.
Various media report that it is an attack by Yemen’s Shiite Houthi rebels against Jeddah.
This weekend the great Formula 1 race will take place at the Jeddah Circuit.
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has entered a state of alert due to a missile that, according to some reports, hit the factory of Aramco, sponsor of Formula 1.
This weekend is the appointment with the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, in the city of Jeddah, on the shores of the Red Sea, and today, during the first free practice, an alleged missile attack on the Aramco facilities, very close to where the race will take place.
This news, of course, has set off the alarms of Formula 1, given that, in addition, Aramco is one of its global sponsors.
The images have already gone viral and it has even been revealed that Max Verstappen reported, through his radio, that he felt the environment burned, a fact that he attributed to his car, but in reality it was the attack that took place in factory.
Aramco’s facilities are located 10 km from the Jeddah Circuitthe stage that this weekend will be in charge of the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia.
According to what has been reported in some media, it is about an attack by Yemen’s Shiite Houthi rebels against Jeddah; however, one of the missiles hit the Aramco factory and now the great Formula 1 event could be at risk.

So far, the organization of the GP continues with its normal course and no damage caused by the explosion has been reported,
However, it will be a matter of minutes to find out how much this attack has affected the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which, just today, had started with its first free practices.
Similarly, Formula 1, at the moment, has not issued any statement or commented on the matter, although it is expected to do so before the second free practice takes place.
Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in sports
This will be the second round of the Formula One World Championship to be held on the Saudi Arabian street circuit and it is not yet known if the race will be canceled due to the missile that hit one of its global sponsors.
In sports, Charles Leclerc, leader of the championship, managed to set the fastest time this Friday during the first free practice for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, a fact that represents an achievement for the Ferrari team.
In this way, in his best lap, Leclerc covered the 6,175 meters of the Jeddah track, with a soft tire, in one minute, 30 seconds and 772 thousandths, 116 less than the Dutchman Max Verstappen, from Red Bull, and the most recent world champion, who set his fastest lap with the hard compound, in a session in which the Finn Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo) set the third time, with the soft, 312 thousandths behind the Monegasque.
